Update on the construction of Paytherden Solar Farm – August 2026
Latest update from Bluefield Development regarding constructions of the Paytherden Solar Farm.
Published: 21 July 2026
Bluefield is pleased to report that construction of the temporary access has been progressing well.
In early July, the contractor team began by constructing the bellmouth junction opposite
Lanelands, which forms the entry and exit point between the road and the site. This work is
now complete.
Later in the month, work commenced on the access track into the site. In a nutshell, access
track works include initial ground preparation, followed by the installation of a capping layer,
a sub-base layer and a top layer comprising 20 mm graded stone. Once completed, the track
will measure approximately 450m in length and 4m in width. It will be removed once the
project becomes operational.
These works are expected to last for around three weeks, subject to weather conditions and
any other unforeseen circumstances. All works are being carried out in accordance with the
approved design, the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), the
Construction Traffic Management Plan (CTMP), and applicable health, safety and
environmental legislation. Measures will be implemented to suppress dust, minimising any
nuisance to neighbouring properties and users of the public footpath.
As part of Bluefield’s community engagement programme, renewable energy workshops
were delivered to Year 5 and 6 pupils at Clyst Hydon Primary School and Payhembury
Primary School. The workshops were provided by Bluefield’s specialist education partner,
Earth Energy Education (EEE), and focused on what renewable energy is, why it is needed
and how it works.
During the practical part of the sessions, pupils assembled electrical circuits with the aim of
illuminating a light bulb. Pupils and teachers alike enjoyed the workshops, and the
Bluefield/EEE team was delighted to receive positive feedback.
