Update from Bluefield Development regarding progress of Paytherden Solar Farm - as published in Clyst Hydon News.

The construction team is making good progress with the build of the temporary compound off Marsh Cross and its access. In order to maximise the separation distance between the compound and the nearest residences, Bluefield decided to reduce the
size of the compound from what was approved in planning, ensuring any potential nuisance would be kept to a minimum. Once the compound is completed, we will turn our attention to the building of the solar farm and will keep the community and the
Parish Council informed of any upcoming construction activities.
The archaeological contractor has finished the strip mapping exercise, and the area is being re-instated. Some remains of low-level historical significance have been found on the site, which are consistent with a small late Iron Age or early Roman farmstead. This included some pottery, a spindle whorl and a possible corn drier or malting oven – signs of domestic activity suggesting that yarn was spun and crops were being processed in some way.
Findings were in line with the predictions of the geophysical survey. The contractor is undertaking further post-excavation analysis and is in the process of drafting their report for the County Archaeologist, which will become available for public viewing on the Council’s planning portal in due course.
Bluefield’s contractors work in accordance with the agreed Construction Traffic Management Plan and the drivers are instructed accordingly. However, if members of the public have any concerns, the team requests that these are reported to us through either of the below channels. If possible, please provide details of the date and time, licence plate and any photographic evidence so our team can investigate the complaint.
